GETTING GOD TO ACT IN OUR NATION “LET GOD ARISE”

INTRODUCTION

Every nation or people of destiny under God will have to contend with forces that work in opposition to their God-ordained destiny. The enemy seems to have a special dislike for anything birthed by God and nurtured for His glorious purpose. This would appear to be the reason for Moses’ action whenever the Ark of the Covenant set forward to lead God’s people in the wilderness. As the people journeyed with the Ark in front of the procession, Moses would shout, “Let God Arise, and His enemies be scattered.” Despite the presence of the Ark, Moses never assumed that God would arise in defense of His people without being invited. This is an important lesson in national praying; God may appear to be asleep or watching with arms folded until His people raise a battle cry for His assistance, help, or intervention.

The situation in the nation of Nigeria is at a state when it appears as if our God is asleep or uninterested in the deliverance of the nation. It appears as if the nation has been abandoned to the wicked wish and schemes of the evil one. Yet, we know from the example of Moses above that it is the proper time for us as God’s people to raise a battle cry for the deliverance of the nation. Let God arise and let His enemies in Nigeria be scattered!

ANCHOR SCRIPTURES

And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel (Num 10:35-36).

Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish in the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people when thou didst march through the wilderness. The earth shook, and the heavens also dropped in the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved in the presence of God, the God of Israel. Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance when it was weary (Psalms 68:1-9).

Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah. To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice. Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds. O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God (Psalms 68:32-35).
